DESIGN CHALLENGE

The design challenge for this project is to re-purpose the historic Lex-Arts building to provide housing and needed amenities for downtown Lexington residents. 

PROCESS

Research and site mapping revealed downtown to be filled with fine dining venues and religious centers, yet devoid of vital amenities such as grocery stores, green spaces and places for community interaction and the arts.

OUTCOMES

My design solution transformed the Lex-Arts building into a mixed-use residential space with opportunities for artistic interaction and venues supporting environmental health and nutrition such as zero-waste grocery store and a community teaching kitchen. This project inspired thought around creating space for interaction and privacy.
